Why are people so rude on xanga?
I have noticed it a lot recently.
You just never know who you're talking to over xanga. You think you can hide behind a computer and say whatever you want, but you have no idea the people that you're dealing with.
What if the person that you're being rude to just found out they were pregnant from a rape?
What if they were consistently suicidal?
What if they just lost a family member?
What if they're a sex slave? What if they're already being beaten in so many other ways?
People go through a lot of shit. If they don't agree with you, calling people names is just ridiculous. Acting like you're 15 and bullying people isn't appropriate either. I know everybody has their own issues, but don't take it out on people, when you have no idea of their circumstance.

couldn't have said it better.
very well said
o0o0 I think we should make a blog ring (so old lol) with everyone who feels this way. I mean I know a lot of people who say this but only a handful of people on xanga that I've read actually means this. Yeah they may argue from time to time but don't really try to be hurtful. Most people on xanga hide behind their computers and want to hurt others just because they can.
Sad to say but this will prob fall on deaf ears bc selfishness is rampant.
@Kris0logy - agreed with the exception of bullshit comments from some of the people who actually don't care at all - but will come on here and and pretend to. Just look above you, examples already present.
There was somebody who really claimed that she was a sex slave, in England, AND anorexic, on Xanga, a few years ago, but I always made a point of being nice to her.
People tend to feel "safe" to be nasty behind their anonymity online. It's an unfortunate thing that is rampant across the internet community in general.
Xanga is just like highschool, sadly. Then again, so is most of the internet.
Yes, there is a lot of rude crap and people with anger issues, but I try to just look at the nice pictures and read the jokes. When I first joined, I argued a little with the Xangans in question, but quickly found them to be just plain foul. Now, to find some kitty videos!
It's truuue! I've noticed that so much lately. Not towards me but through my creeping lol.
People who are rude online are usually the same way IRL. It shouldn't be that way but just like it'll always happen IRL it'll always be something we deal with online.
The BEST part of it happening online though is we have the magical block button.
People on Xanga are NOT rude, you dumb bitch!!!!!
No, just kidding. You're not a dumb bitch and Xangans can be rude. Heated discussions often turn into emotionally charged attacks, then to pure anger fueled eruptions. It's a shame, but I have been guilty of it myself in the past. You're right though; it's definitely advantageous to remain cognizant of the fact that we have NO idea what the person we are being rude to is going through. Good post.
because they can be. being rude doesn't necessitate being derogatory, but even then there is no motive to lie to a stranger online for the sake of kindness.
I dunno, most comments I read seem fine. It's just someone else's opinion--especially when it's a stranger.
@amateurprose - LOL LOL you made me laugh out loud. Thanks for that. I was all like "O NO HE DIDN'T" and then I was like "O okay I'm chill, I'm chill"
@lenybobsyouruncle - by being rude, I mean name calling, derogatory sort of stuff...
two thumbs up.
nice post.
nice post.
@MyPublicSite - ah, idk then :/
The things people pick on others for on this site are really strange to me. I was reading a post about nail polish the other day and everyone was being so mean to the girl over her cuticles. Really??
No one is perfect.
this is not just for people online. it's for real life, too. especially in real life, it hurts more
@f5ye_angel5 - I haven't found it as true in real life. Like in real life you have more of a choice of who you surround yourself with I guess. But on here it's not really an option. You're just sort of exposed to everyone.
@greenwoman - Yah I've seen stuff like this too. It's odd in the least.
I know what you mean. Network is a virtural world after all, we can not put all our emotion into.
lovely cats, PDF splitter, PDF split
People get brave on the Internet.
they have no lives thats why. it makes me angry too. Somebody I know had been hacked by this lunatic and now that this lunatic got found out, she wont stop going around saying "im crying! im going to hell!" sheeeeeeeeeesh!
